The Committee of Royston Open Secrets is in the final stages of planning this year’s event which takes place on Sunday 7th June. They are all busy people so they were delighted to welcome a new volunteer this week. Nici Martin of So Gifted has not only joined the Committee, she has agreed to be the Secretary.
Nici has been an exhibitor at the event for the last two years. In fact last year her business won the award for the Best Stand.
Nici told me:
‘I love Royston Open Secrets – it’s great that it’s a non-profit event run by volunteers for the benefit of the whole town. I get to meet all Royston’s hidden businesses and the entrepreneurial people behind them in a fun and sociable way. I’m proud to be part of this creative business environment.
The event is a brilliant showcase for local businesses of all sizes – small businesses often find this type of event prohibitive due to costs, but the stands are so reasonable that it really is open to everyone . It has certainly raised awareness of So Gifted, where we are and what we do. We like to champion local craft businesses by stocking their products along with those we source ourselves and I’m hoping to display some at the show. I’m particularly excited about this year because we now have a shop and I will be launching some new promotions.
Having enjoyed the event and being part of the Royston community, I wanted to give something back. The commitment, in terms of my time, is manageable and it will be another opportunity to get to know business people in the area. The Chairwoman, Linda Turner was very persuasive!’
